Common NameLysoPC(20:3(5Z,8Z,11Z)/0:0)
DescriptionLysoPC(20:3(5Z,8Z,11Z)/0:0) contains one acyl chain of 20:3 at the sn-1. LysoPC(20:3(5Z,8Z,11Z)/0:0) is a lysophosphatidylcholine (LysoPC), a type of lysophospholipid (LyP). LysoPCs are monoglycerophospholipids in which a phosphorylcholine group occupies one of the glycerol substitution sites. They contain a single fatty acyl chain at either the sn-1 or sn-2 position and a free hydroxyl group at the other. The most common acyl chains contain 16, 18, or 20 carbons with varying degrees of unsaturation. LysoPCs are formed primarily by hydrolysis of phosphatidylcholine by phospholipase A₂ and can be produced in plasma by LCAT activity. They circulate bound mainly to albumin and act as signaling molecules via lysophospholipid (GPR) receptors.
