Metabolite Identification
Common Nameisochromophilone VI
DescriptionIsochromophilone VI is a chlorinated azaphilone alkaloid, a chemical class known for its complex aromatic structures and biological activities. This metabolite has been identified as part of the fermentation products from the fungus ACD-5, particularly when cultivated in brown rice medium, where it was isolated alongside other compounds such as sclerotioramine and isochromophilone IX, based on bioactivity and mass spectrometry analysis (PMID:37206330 ). The biosynthesis of isochromophilone VI is closely linked to specific polyketide synthase (PKS) genes; notably, the knockout of the sclA and sclI genes leads to a loss of pigmentation in mycelia and halts the production of various sclerotiorin-like metabolites, including isochromophilone VI itself (PMID:36708387 ). This indicates its role in the metabolic pathways of fungi, particularly in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites that may have ecological or pharmacological significance.
